Review of challenged ballots in the recount for the MN seat for US Senate brings some welcome comic relief in the name of write-in candidates on challenged ballots: Lizard People and Flying Spaghetti Monster, with a little Frankenstin [sic] for good measure.

Elliot Hughes recounts allegations of torture while being detained in Ramsey County Jail. Hughes was detained during an RNC08 protest after reportedly colliding with a police bicycle on accident. He was sent to Regions Hospital for treatment and later released without charges. We are actively investigating these claims. Stay tuned for more.

Sen. Norm Coleman returned to Minnesota to visit an Xcel Energy nuclear plant training facility after several days working in Washington D.C. This was one of the first opportunities reporters had to question Coleman on the ongoing recount. Sen. Coleman discusses ballot challenges and nuclear energy.
The UpTake's volunteer coordinator Suzanne was shooting video of a police-protester confrontation when she got caught up in the melée and was arrested. The UpTake is working to find out more information and get her released, but it has proven difficult.
